About us

Hi everybody and Welcome! :) I am Ella the cook and photographer behind Home Cooking Adventure.

I started this blog/website in the spring of 2011 to share with you my passion for cooking through my little adventures in the kitchen. I find cooking relaxing, I love talking with friends and family about food and sharing recipes. I started to love cooking mostly because home cooked food is fresher, better and healthier. It seems that nowadays it has become a luxury few can afford. Our lives seem overwhelmingly busy and "fast-food" is a common term in this hectic world.

I discovered that I feel challenged by trying to make food from scratch, like learning to make bread without yeast, making my own pastry dough instead of buying, I discovered that I really enjoy working with flour therefore baking is one of my favorite parts of cooking.

I believe that cooking is for everybody. It might take time but it is an adventure, a wild ride, a rewarding and delightful experience that will soon turn into a captivating pleasure.

I have the luck of having the full support of my husband who created the whole interface of this site and is still supporting me in developing it. He also is the person behind the video camera and helped me make the recipe videos.

In my private life am the happy mother of two delicious girls, one of two and a half years old and the other one of 9 months. By the time I started I knew almost nothing about blogging and I still consider I have a lot to learn. If I would have known how much work it is need to develop a recipe site I would have probably postponed this but I am glad I didn't. Don't know about others but personally I find it very hard to find time for working between the time I spend with the two little girls and household.

This blog was meant from the beginning as a possibility to share good and as much as possible healthy recipes and good information related to food. It's not a blog about my personal life, I like to restrict my posts specific to that recipe story. English is not my native language, so be indulgent with me if any errors occur. I would appreciate if you notice any mistake to just let me know:).

Regarding the photography, I have to admit it's something I have discovered only after I started this blog. I still consider it the most difficult part of this website. My first recipes photos are far from what I tend to but I think I have evolved on this chapter and still have a lot to learn. I am using a Canon EOS 7D camera and Canon 50mm f/1.4 and Canon EF100mm f/2.8L macro lenses. For editing I am using Photoshop CS5.

All in all, Home Cooking Adventure is about the passion me and my husband share for excellent flavours, freshly pounded spices, decadent sweets and savory dishes. We want to introduce new creative ways to cook and show how you can have a blast in the kitchen. Hope you will enjoy these recipes as much as we do.

Keep on cooking!

I just wanted to say I am excited about trying your recipe for the cauliflower pizza crust. I had bypass surgery last January 2017, and with that I cannot have breads, rice, and pasta, or a whole lot of carbs. I lost a little over 100 lbs, and I feel so much better. I tried a different recipe for cauliflower crust pizza. It was very good, but not crispy. I miss having pizza, so I'm excited to try this one recipe with ground almonds. Thank you .. keep up the great work.. I love watching you on youtube. I now have you on my list of favorites to try other recipes that I may have or others may enjoy. SMILE!!

Because I had been researching recipes youtube popped your channel up in the recommendations section and I'm glad they did. I always enjoy seeing how other chefs prepare their dishes which in most cases allows me to perfect my dishes and techniques. The video that popped up was one about eclairs. This holiday season I decided to make bignè (Italian cream puffs). I made a pâte a choux which turned out to be identical to your version. The pastry cream was a bit different in that I used flour instead of corn starch. I'm guessing that the corn starch would make a silkier cream. I'm going to try your eclair recipe in a few weeks once I work off the pounds acquired from this season's baking. I'm also a skilled artisan baker, make an authentic NY style pizza, and also make my own pasta. The music was a really nice touch, btw. I'm looking forward to searching your site and see what else you've come up with. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for all these beautiful videos. I am a hobby cook and I LOVE baking. I'm fortunate to work as a confectioner although I have not learned it at school and I always looking for new tastes and ideas in Internet - that's how I arrived to your recipes and website. I like your vidoes because there is nice music playing in the backround and everything is so clear and understandable. I don't need any explanations in the backround - I like when everything is written on the screen. My native language is estonian so if there is any mistake in my writing, I'm sorry :). I also make my own bread but bread in Estonia means dark rye bread and it's done with leaven. And I'm also interested in healthy and slow food - so, I wish you success while writing your blog! Good luck!!
