This spring, we set sail again from Marina Frapa, embarking on an unforgettable journey through some of Croatia’s most stunning islands. Over six days and 179 nautical miles, the Adriatic revealed its best to us, charming old towns, quiet coves, and vibrant harbors. Here’s a glimpse into our sailing adventure in Croatia.
Tucked into a sheltered bay in Rogoznica, Marina Frapa is one of the most picturesque and well-equipped marinas on the Adriatic. Surrounded by crystal-clear water and framed by green hills, it’s more than just a starting point, it’s a destination in itself.
With its elegant promenade, polished docks, and vibrant atmosphere, Frapa offers the perfect mix of comfort and coastal charm.
The calm waters and stunning sunsets make it an ideal place to linger before setting sail.
Day 1: Marina Frapa → Blue Lagoon and Maslinica, Šolta
On the first day, we set sail from Marina Frapa, our excitement running high. Our first stop was the renowned Blue Lagoon, just south of Otok Drvenik Veli. It is a breathtaking anchorage known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and serene surroundings.
Then we continued to Maslinica, a beautiful village on the western tip of Šolta island. As we approached, the sight of Maslinica’s small cluster of stone houses and its historic castle was simply magical. We spent the evening strolling the waterfront and enjoying a beautiful sunset by the sea.
Day 2: Maslinica → Stari Grad, Hvar
The next morning, after a relaxed breakfast aboard, we set our course for Mlini Beach. It is a hidden gem with calm waters and a tranquil shoreline, perfect for a refreshing dip. Tucked into a small bay, Mlini offered a peaceful pause surrounded by untouched nature.
Feeling recharged, we continued south toward Stari Grad on the island of Hvar. One of the oldest towns in Europe, Stari Grad welcomed us with its narrow alleys, stone houses, and a peaceful, timeless atmosphere. We wandered through the charming old town and soaked in the island’s relaxed vibe, feeling the history at every corner.
Day 3: Stari Grad → Vela Luka, Korčula
On day three, we sailed toward Vela Luka, a lovely bay town on the western side of Korčula island. The trip offered plenty of sailing thrills, steady winds, sparkling waves, and open blue horizons. Vela Luka’s laid-back spirit made it the perfect place to unwind after a full day at sea.
Day 4: Vela Luka → Korčula Town
From Vela Luka, we made a short but wonderful sail to Korčula Town, often called “Little Dubrovnik” for its medieval walls and terracotta rooftops.
We spent a whole day here. This gave ourselves time to explore the winding streets, sip coffee in sunny squares, and enjoying breathtaking views. Korčula became our longest stop, and it’s easy to see why.
Day 5- Korcula → Cave Pokrivenić and Vbroska
The following day, after enjoying a quiet morning and some local flavors, we set sail once again, this time toward the striking Cave Pokrivenić. Tucked into a secluded cove, this natural wonder amazed us with its raw beauty and dramatic rock formations. It is a true hidden gem of the Croatian coast.
From there, we turned our course north and made our way to Vrboska. It is a peaceful harbor town that felt like a perfect stop on our island-hopping journey. It is a hidden gem on Hvar Island. Known as “Little Venice” for its charming canal and stone bridges, Vrboska was a beautiful, peaceful place.
Day 6: Vrboska, Hvar→ Bol – Rogoznica
After a peaceful evening wandering through the village, we set course for our final destination—Bol. It is famous for the unique beauty of Zlatni Rat beach. With its distinctiv shoreline stretching into the turquoise sea, it was a memorable end to our journey along the Adriatic coast.

With hearts full of memories, we finally turned back toward Rogoznica Marina, retracing our path to where it all began. As we moored the boat and stepped ashore one last time, a deep sense of gratitude settled in. Grateful for the calm anchorages, the vibrant towns, and the incredible beauty of Croatia that had left an imprint on us with every nautical mile.
Sailing the Dalmatian Coast is a dream, one we were fortunate enough to experience. Each island revealed its own charm, from the ancient streets of Stari Grad and Korčula to the quiet beauty of Vrboska and Maslinica.
But what truly tied it all together was the sea itself, endlessly blue, alive with energy, and always inviting us to return.
On our way back home, we made a final stop in Primošten, a charming seaside town perched on a small peninsula. Here the stone streets and panoramic views offered one last taste of the Adriatic’s magic.
This unforgettable journey wouldn’t have been possible without the care and professionalism of the team at Sunset and Sails. Special thanks to our incredible skipper, whose steady hand and local insight brought every stop to life.
We hope this story sparks your own dream of sailing through Croatia. Here every island has a story, every harbor feels like home, and the Adriatic offers a kind of beauty that stays with you long after you return.
