We fell in love with Halkidiki, a breathtaking peninsula in northern Greece, renowned for its unique three-pronged shape, each prong offering distinct attractions. We chose visiting Sithonia, the middle prong of Halkidiki, which is a haven of natural beauty and tranquility. This picturesque peninsula is characterized by its unspoiled beaches, crystal-clear waters, and beautiful pine forests.

As we were visiting Sithonia in September we encountered fewer crowds, allowing us to fully appreciate the calm waters and embrace the relaxed, serene atmosphere of the peninsula.

For our stay in Sithonia, we rented an apartment in Agios Nikolaos. This charming village offered a traditional Greek atmosphere with its narrow, cobblestone streets and stone houses with colorful flowers. Staying in Agios Nikolaos allowed us to enjoy the local tavernas and the vibrant central square, while also being close to the stunning beaches and clear waters of Sithonia. It was the perfect base for exploring the natural beauty of the region.

Day 1: Lagonisi Beach

Our adventure began at Lagonisi Beach, a hidden gem nestled on the right side of Halkidiki. The beach greeted us with its white sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters. What makes Lagonisi Beach truly unique is its charming little island situated just a short swim away from the shore.

We spent the day lounging under the warm sun and swimming in the inviting sea.

Day 2: Orange and  Karydi Beach

The second day took us to Orange Beach, located on the eastern side of the Sithonia peninsula in Halkidiki. This beach also features fine golden sand and clear, turquoise waters.

One of the highlights of Orange Beach is the Orange Beach Bar, which offers a relaxed vibe and provides visitors with comfortable sunbeds, umbrellas, and refreshments.

As we encountered a windy day with big waves, and had small kids with us, we decided to change our plans and head to Karydi Beach. The beach has a soft, white sand and crystal-clear, shallow waters, making it perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Surrounded by smooth, sculpted rock formations and beautiful pine trees, Karidi Beach offered a unique landscape ideal for families with children

Day 3: Fava and Kalamitsi Beach

On our third day we discovered the beautiful Fava Beach. This small, secluded beach was a paradise of golden sands and crystal-clear waters, framed by dramatic rock formation.

Here as well, due to the wind and big waves, in the afternoon we headed to Kalamitsi Beach, renowned for its soft golden sands and crystalline turquoise waters.

This beach has a captivating rock formation rising from the sea. We enjoyed a peaceful evening here, swimming in the deep blue waters and savoring fresh seafood at a local taverna lined on the shore.

Day 4: Koviou Beach

Our final day was spent at Koviou Beach where a beautiful stretch of sand and clear waters with a mesmerizing turquoise hue nestle between rocky cliffs. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in Sithonia. Its serene atmosphere and stunning scenery made it a perfect spot for relaxation.

The relaxed vibe of Koviou Beach provided a perfect ending to our adventure.

As the sun set, the sky filled with beautiful colors, creating the perfect ending for our last evening in Sithonia.

Each day of visiting Sithonia, Halkidiki offered a unique blend of wild beauty, tranquility, and adventure. It left us with memories of stunning beaches and the untouched charm of this Greek paradise.

Hope you enjoyed our road trip to Sithonia and convinced you to experience visiting Sithonia, Halkidiki as well. I highly recommend visiting it in May, June or September, for an incredible and relaxing experience. Check out my Instagram for more photos and stories from our trips.
