These Cream Cheese Marbled Brownies are rich, fudgy, and chocolatey, topped with a delightful swirled cream cheese that is simply hard to resist.
I’ve been making these special treats for years, and they’re always a hit. Even though I shared a similar recipe on my blog years ago, I wanted to tweak it and create the best-swirled brownies ever. This time, the swirls are more noticeable, and the brownies are extra fudgy and dense.
Instead of mixing the butter separately, I melted it with chocolate, so the batter is smoother and easier to swirl on top. These changes have stepped up the brownie game, making each bite even more delicious and irresistible.
This recipe uses orange, almond, espresso, and vanilla for extra flavor, but feel free to change these according to your tastes.
How to make cream cheese marbled brownies
Begin with preheating the oven to 350 F (180C). Then, grease and line a 9×13 inch (24×35 cm) baking pan with parchment paper.
For the cream cheese mixture, start by mixing the cream cheese until smooth. Then, blend in the sugar, orange zest, and orange juice. Add the egg and set it aside for later use.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
Next, melt the chocolate and butter in a medium bowl over a bain-marie, stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove it from the heat and whisk in the sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the espresso coffee, almond extract, and vanilla extract. Gradually fold in the flour mixture until everything is well combined.
How to create the swirl effect
Pour the chocolate batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Reserve about ¾ cup of the batter to use later for creating swirls.
Spread the cream cheese mixture over the top of the chocolate batter.
Using a knife, spoon the remaining ¾ cup of chocolate batter over the cream cheese, then create swirls with the knife.
Bake for 25-30 minutes until it’s set. Let it cool completely on a cooling rack, then cover and refrigerate for several hours or overnight.
Finally, cut the dessert into squares using a hot knife. Hope you will try them out and enjoy your delicious treat! Don’t forget to tag me in your Instagram posts or stories, so I can see your amazing results.
