Is there anybody in the world who doesn’t love fries? I don’t know anyone who doesn’t. I stopped making the fried version many years ago as also any other kind of recipes that ask for deep frying. These crispy oven potato fries are so much healthier and incredible delicious.
If there is an inconvenient of these baked fries it is just the fact that you can not bake too many at once in one baking sheet. However, with our modern ovens, we can now fit up to 3 baking sheets at once, making the process much easier.
How to make crispy oven fries
Begin with preheating the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
Next, cut the potatoes into 1/4 inch thick sticks. Soak them in cold water for 15-30 minutes to remove excess starch, then dry them using paper towels.
In a large bowl, toss the potato sticks with the oil and garlic powder if using.
Spread the sticks on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are in a single layer with a little space between them.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, turning them once or twice during baking to ensure even cooking.
Season with salt and the fries are ready to be served.

PERFECT fries! They look amazing and crisp and flavorful, and I love that they’re baked!
You’d never know these were baked! They are crisped to perfection!!! YUM!
My son and I are a huge potato lover and we enjoy baked potato fries like this. Now that I saw yours I really have to make it tomorrow (we just finished dinner). Yours are very crispy and just the way I like it!
I bake french fries often but they never look quite as perfect as yours. I’m going to soak them next time – something I haven’t been doing! Thank you so much for sharing these. I hope mine are as pretty as yours next time 🙂
They look browned and crisped to perfection, I usually skip the soaking part when making mine, will try it time indulging a bit 🙂

I love over baked fries but mine never turned out as beautiful as yours. And the garlic touch, hmmm yum!!! I usually through in 1-2 garlic cloves with the potatoes and the smell infuses while baking.
Thanks for the sweet comment on my guest post on Laura’s beautiful blog. Nice to meet you
This looks really good but would it taste the same if I used sweet potatoes?

Would be delicious but taste like sweet potatoes. They are different than the regular potatoes.
