Few dishes feel as cozy and satisfying as homemade Creamy Mushroom Pasta. I often make it on busy evenings when I want a simple meal that still feels hearty and full of flavor. Mushrooms have this incredible way of creating a rich, savory taste all on their own, especially when they’re cooked slowly until golden and tender.

One of the things I love most about this pasta is that it comes together with simple ingredients I usually already have at home. The smell of garlic and mushrooms cooking in the pan instantly makes the kitchen feel warm and inviting. Sometimes I serve it with freshly grated Parmesan and a little basil on top, while other times I keep it extra simple and let the mushrooms shine.

It works perfectly as a quick family dinner, but it’s also wonderful for a relaxed weekend lunch served with a fresh salad or warm bread on the side. If you love mushrooms as much as I do, this is one of those comforting pasta dishes you’ll find yourself making again and again.

How to make creamy mushroom pasta

Begin with cooking the pasta in well-salted water according to the package instructions. Before draining, reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta water.

Prepare the mushroom sauce

In a large pan, sauté the onion in olive oil or butter over medium heat for 3–4 minutes, until softened and fragrant.

Add the garlic and sliced mushrooms, cooking for 6-7 minutes until the mushrooms are golden and any released liquid has evaporated.

Stir in the cream, salt, and pepper, then let the sauce simmer gently for about 2 minutes.

Combine and serve

Add the drained pasta to the pan along with the Parmesan cheese and a splash of the reserved pasta water. Toss everything together until the sauce becomes silky, creamy, and coats the pasta beautifully.

Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed, then finish with fresh parsley or basil and extra Parmesan on top.

Serve warm and enjoy a cozy, creamy pasta dish full of rich mushroom flavor, simple enough for busy evenings, yet comforting and satisfying every single time.
