White and Dark Chocolate Mousse

Recently, I shared a French Chocolate Mousse recipe that I absolutely fell in love with. The idea of creating a layered chocolate mousse sounded irresistible, so I decided to give it a try. This White and Dark Chocolate Mousse combines the rich, velvety flavors of dark chocolate with the sweet, creamy notes of white chocolate, making it an ideal dessert for any occasion.

The mousse is incredibly smooth, creamy, and airy, with a luscious chocolatey taste that will delight any chocolate lover. Each layer provides a distinct yet complementary flavor, creating a decadent treat that’s as visually appealing as it is delicious. This White and Dark Chocolate Mousse is sure to impress.

How to make white and dark chocolate mousse

Begin by melting dark chocolate over a bain-marie until smooth. Add half of the butter and mix until well blended. Repeat this step with white chocolate in a separate bowl.

Next, whip the egg whites with a mixer until foamy. Gradually add the sugar while whipping continuously until stiff peaks form. Split the whipped egg whites into two bowls.

In another step, beat the yolks with your chosen flavor ingredients, split the mixture in half, and add each half to the dark and white chocolate mixtures. Remove both from heat.

Then, fold a spoonful of the whipped egg whites into each chocolate mixture to lighten them. Afterward, gently fold each chocolate mixture into the remaining egg whites until well combined.

Since the white mousse will not be as thick as the dark mousse, start by pouring the dark mousse into serving bowls. Then, add the white mousse and finish with a layer of dark mousse on top.

Wrap the bowls with plastic wrap and refrigerate for a few hours or overnight. Before serving, sprinkle with grated chocolate.

so the egg whites get cooked with the chocolate then? I just want to make sure! Thanks!

    1. Ella-HomeCookingAdventure Author says:

No, they don’t get cooked with the chocolate. You whip egg whites separately. When chocolate is melt, add egg yolks, stir and remove from bain- marie. Only then fold in a spoonful of the whites into chocolate mixture to make it more fluffy then pour this mixture into the remaining whites.
