How to make creamed corn
In a pot on medium heat, let the butter melt, then add flour and cook for a minute.
Slowly mix in the milk and whipping cream. Add corn, salt, black pepper, sugar, and nutmeg, and stir it all together. Cook for around 5 minutes, stirring a lot until it gets thick.
Take it off the heat and serve it while it’s hot.
How to store creamed corn
If you have leftover creamed corn, let it cool to room temperature before transferring it to an airtight container. Place the container in the refrigerator. It typically stays fresh for 3-4 days when refrigerated.
Creamed corn can be frozen for longer storage. Allow it to cool completely, then transfer it to a freezer-safe container. Frozen creamed corn can last for 2-3 months. When you’re ready to use frozen creamed corn, transfer it to the refrigerator to thaw overnight. Reheat it on the stove over low to medium heat, stirring occasionally. This helps maintain the creamy texture.
